Hydrogels
Hydrogels are three-dimensional networks of polymer chains that can absorb and retain large amounts of water while maintaining their structure. In tissue engineering, they matter because their water-rich nature closely mimics the natural environment where our cells live and grow. This similarity allows hydrogels to serve as temporary scaffolds that support cells, deliver nutrients, and gradually break down as new tissue forms.
