What should $BUILD fund first?
$BUILD is purpose-bound capital. It exists to fund one thing at a time - a specific research project, a community sauna, an infrastructure build - and each deployment requires a governance vote to pass.
The first vote is the most important one. It sets the precedent for how the community allocates capital and what Steam Collective actually stands for in practice, not just in principle.
Three directions are on the table.
A research grant. A targeted study addressing one of the gaps the existing literature leaves open. Women's health across a life stage. A protocol standardisation trial. A cognition and heat study with a defined endpoint.
A community sauna build. A physical node that functions as both a gathering space and a living research environment. Members contribute data. The space generates signal over time.
A data infrastructure project. Tools for members to log sessions, track markers, and contribute to a shared dataset that feeds future research proposals.
None of these are competing in the long run. But the first vote is a signal about what this community prioritises. What would you put capital behind first and why?
